Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
This policy describes how PotooVPN (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the PotooVPN mobile or desktop apps and related services at potoovpn.com.
Who we are
PotooVPN is a VPN client that connects you to a curated pool of shared community exits. We operate the client, API, and catalog cache; we do not operate a private VPN server fleet.
What we collect
- Device identifier — a stable id generated on your device so we can apply session leases and daily convenience quotas (connects, session length, data).
- Account data (optional) — if you sign in (e.g. Google), we store the identifiers needed for authentication and plan status.
- Usage metering — session start/end, approximate bytes transferred, and connect counts for quota enforcement. This is not a browsing-history log of the sites you visit.
- Catalog feedback — optional reports you submit about relay quality.
- Push token — if you enable notifications, a device push token so we can deliver them.
- Diagnostics (optional) — crash and analytics events only when you allow them in the app. You can change this later in privacy settings.
- Approximate location / network metadata — third-party geo-IP or connectivity checks may briefly process your public IP while resolving region or connectivity. That is separate from community exit operators.
Privacy model
Your tunnel is encrypted to the exit you choose. Shared community exits are not a private corporate fleet, so we describe privacy as best-effort — suited to everyday browsing and access — not as an absolute anonymity guarantee. Details of what we collect on our side are listed above.
Community exits
Exits are community-run and independently operated. Speed, availability, and operator practices can vary. PotooVPN helps you discover, pre-check, and connect; it does not operate or control those exits. Follow local law when using the service.
How we use information
- Provide catalog, session leases, and fair-use metering
- Authenticate optional accounts and apply plan limits
- Improve reliability (sync health, optional diagnostics you allow)
- Respond if you contact us
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Data may be processed by infrastructure providers that host our API and (when enabled) analytics/crash services. Community exit operators are independent third parties; traffic you send through an exit is subject to that operator’s environment.
Retention
Metering and session records are kept as needed for quotas, abuse prevention, and operations. Optional diagnostics follow the retention of those tools. You can delete your account and associated data using the steps on our Delete account page.
Your choices
- Decline or customize analytics and on-device file logs in the app’s privacy controls
- Sign out / revoke tokens from the app where available
- Delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or via potoovpn.com/delete-account
Children
PotooVPN is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). Do not use the service if you are under that age.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Related
Use of PotooVPN is also governed by our Terms of Service (community exits, metering, Plus, acceptable use, and liability).
